Phonics Instruction
Reading becomes much easier with some phonics instruction.
There are many different ways of teaching phonics, including classroom instruction, one-to-one tuition, and instruction using audio and visual aids. Computer instruction is an excellent way, in which the tutoring package can interact with the child, giving feedback and re-enforcement.
In fact many phonics tutoring packages have an element of games-playing, taking the role of tutor, but in a very subtle way. Children enjoy working with computers, and will often see computer instruction as being fun; working at their own pace and seeing it as a part of their play. Computing instruction is an proven way of increasing children's reading skills.
